Sports to Watch: Labor Day Weekend

Okay, we are officially back to a new season of Sports to Watch! Football has begun once again and while we have had some specials when it comes to Sports to Watch, we had to come back once the seasons change and the footballs start flying! This weekend is nothing short of awesome, as we have a lot of games, but we are going to focus on the biggest games that you have to watch.

Oklahoma looks to kickoff their season against a red-hot Houston Cougars that are looking to shock the worldCrJomlkXgAAVaNo

Time: Saturday, September 3rd at 11 a.m.

Channel: ABC (or the WatchESPN app)

Analysis: This game has more on the line than a murder of ravens on a telephone line looking at a run over deer (too much?). Any way, this game is going to be high-flying and full of highlights. Houston knows that this game could make or break them getting into the New Years Six and beyond, while Oklahoma can’t afford to lose this game, especially knowing they have a tough conference to play in. Expect a lot of Heisman-like plays and expect no one to not have their jaw on the floor.

Clemson looks to take step one towards a national championship by beating SEC powerhouse Auburn

Time: Saturday, September 3rd at 9p.m.

Channel: ESPN (or the WatchESPN app)

Analysis: Now me personally, I can’t see anyway possible that Clemson isnt highly motivated to win it all this season. They were getting dump trucked against Alabama in the national championship game, and then Deshaun Watson happened. He unloaded his cannon for an arm and brought the Clemson Tigers within 5 points of winning it all. And like the end of last season, they face an SEC team from Alabama in Auburn who is looking to shut down Clemson’s hopes for a national championship and revitalize theirs. Will Clemson win this game handedly, or will Auburn find a way to win? This game is going to be lit.

Ole Miss takes on the Florida State Seminoles in a Labor Day Battle to end off one of the greatest football weekends in recent history

fsu-ole-miss

Time: Monday, September 5th at 8p.m.

Channel: ESPN (or the WatchESPN app)

Now this game has more implications than people are willing to give people credit for. Now for Ole Miss, it could be there kickoff to possibly winning the SEC. Remember Ole Miss had a great season last year, with one of the biggest highlights being Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly punching his ticket to NFL Draft Primetime night when the Rebels beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Ole Miss is a very strong team defensively and while they did lose LaQuon Treadwell to the NFL, they still have a great offense that could make a move during the season to a conference championship.

Now when it comes to Florida State, they have an opportunity that no one has really noticed. Florida State could easily not make the ACC championship and still end up in the College Football Playoff. How? First, they have to beat Ole Miss. And with the roster that the ‘Noles have, that is more than feasible. Then there is Clemson. They don’t have to beat the Tigers, but if the game is close and its a barn burner game, then Florida State looks good in the loss. And finally if they beat a Florida team that will more than likely be in the SEC championship game, then FSU would be a questionable lock for the national championship.

With those things at stake, expect it to be a game that is sure to have fireworks.

USC looks to shock the College Football World in Dallas, Texas against Alabamaillo-calvin-ridley-juju-smith-schuster-083016-getty-ftrjpg_6a9z32td6j7e1wuq79rsw7q0j

Time: Saturday, September 3rd at 7p.m.

Channel: ABC (or the WatchESPN app)

Analysis: Oh this game gives me goosebumps. Everyone is expecting for Alabama to do what Alabama does during they’re opening games and completely dismantle a non-conference team. But this year might not be the year when that happens. USC walks into JerryWorld not only thinking they can beat the Crimson Tide, they have the players to back it up. With players like Juju Smith, Adoree Jackson and a defense that has produced multiple first round picks, expect the Trojans to fight to the bitter end.

Alabama is no slouch either. While they walk in with a new quarterback, they also comeback with a wrecking crew on defense and playmaker’s on offense that can make Heisman noise with this first game. With players like Calvin Ridley, O.J. Howard and others, expect people to be saying “Rollllllllll Tiiiiiiiiiddddddeeeee!!!!!!”

Well those are my picks on what to watch this weekend, Come back next week to see what sports you should watch.
